    Mission....

The purpose of the JCHSI is the prevention of cruelty to animals, the relief of suffering among animals, and the extension of humane education.  It is policy to provide humane care and treatment for all animals needing protection in the area served by the society, to seek to return lost animals to their owners, to seek suitable homes for animals without owners, to promote a no-kill policy except to provide euthanasia when necessary as specifically determined by the Board of Directors under the advice of a veterinarian.

    Volunteers Needed

We always need reliable, regularly scheduled volunteers to help at the Pet Adoption Center with cleaning the dog kennels and cat colonies, feeding and socializing the animals, training the dogs, and generally cleaning and maintaining the building.

We also need volunteers to help with transporting animals to appointments at Margaret B. Mitchell Spay/Neuter Clinic in Bristol, VA; Fisher Hollow Veterinary Clinic in Damascus, VA; or Keywood Animal Clinic in Mountain City, TN, or in Abingdon, VA.

Over and above our need for PAC workers, JCHSI also needs volunteers to help with publicity, public events, a newsletter, and fundraising.

Please call (423)768-0896 or email us at jchsipac@gmail.com for further information.
